OXI-TWIN

OXI-TWIN Development of digital twin and 4.0 platform for digitisation of water treatment plant

Origin

Ingeobras (Inngen.io) and Pirineos Metal decided to combine their expertise in purification and digitalisation to develop a water treatment system based on advanced oxidation processes. This system was connected to a 4.0 sensor-based management platform, which fed the CFD simulation system.

Process

Throughout the project, the aim has been to ensure that the system is able to achieve:

  • Problem diagnosis: Alerts can be set up as soon as a problem is detected and received via email, WhatsApp or in the most convenient way for the company.
  • Predictive maintenance: It is able to prevent potential failures by learning from multiple sources.
  • Automatic consumables management: The system automatically warns of future consumables shortages via a direct connection to ERP.
  • Real-time data: Thanks to functional block programming and high-level language.
  • Remote management through different devices
  • It can be switched off when not in use: By using advanced oxidation technology there is no reliance on live batteries to be maintained in the water treatment and therefore the system can be switched off when not in use, generating significant cost savings.
Market

OXI-TWIN has proven to be an efficient and effective system for purifying wastewater rich in organic matter. The use of advanced oxidation methods reduces the need for additional consumables and saves on purchasing and storage costs. Furthermore, unlike existing bacteria beds, this purification system can be switched off, which saves energy costs, and can be continuously sensed. The use of sensors has made it possible to digitise the treatment plant, enabling remote control of the plant and predictive maintenance.

This data arrives in real time and is automatically reflected in the server, which at the same time sends the action to be taken to the plant.

This allows remote management through a mobile device (or similar), displaying real-time data that enables remote management of the plant and control of consumables. On the other hand, it also allows problem diagnosis and predictive maintenance.
