INNGEN.IO participates in the innovation project DIGIT-BALSA
The DIGIT-BALSA project consists of installing and testing an innovative system for the early detection of leaks and infiltrations in slurry ponds. Its system is based on fiber optic technology, which allows the monitoring and early detection of leaks in an environment similar to a real slurry pond
Origin of the project, the call for proposals
On November 24, the final resolution of the projects presented in the extraordinary call for proposals for Innovative Business Clusters 2022 was published. Aid from the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism, within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, financed with European funds NextGenerationEU (AEI2022MRR).
In this call, the intercluster project “DIGIT-BALSA: Early detection of leaks and infiltrations in ponds by fiber optic technology” was approved.
Project collaborators
The project is led by the Cluster for the efficient use of water (ZINNAE).
Project participants: Canteras de Ejea, the Polytechnic University School of La Almunia (EUPLA) through its Hydraulic and Environmental Engineering Research Group (GIHA), Ingeniería de Obras Zaragoza (Inngen.io – INGEOBRAS) and the Spanish Pig Producers Cluster (i+Porc), a collaborating cluster.

Project Description: DIGIT-BALSA
Slurry ponds are essential in the livestock industry. Their proper functioning is necessary to ensure proper management of the large quantities of slurry that are generated daily in a livestock farm. DIGIT-BALSA project aims to install and test a state-of-the-art sensor system, based on fiber optics, for the monitoring and early detection of leaks in an environment similar to the real one. That is, in a prototype with geometry and morphology common to a slurry pond.
Inngen.io is leading the digitization part. Throughout the project, it has developed software that allows real-time visualization and analysis of key parameters for the automatic early detection of leaks in slurry ponds. The ultimate goal is to reduce the risk of leaks and water pollution.
Project funded by the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism of the Government of Spain. Call for subsidies to support Innovative Business Groups for the year 2022, within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan. File no. AEI-010500-2022b-320.
